Ford Motor Co. is recalling 7,165 vehicles in the U.S. because of faulty parking brakes, the automaker said.

The recall includes 2015-2016 model-year Explorer, 2015 Taurus and Flex, 2015 Lincoln MKS and 2015 Lincoln MKT vehicles.

Dealers will make a vehicle inspection and replace the parking brake control assembly if needed. There will be no charge for this service, Ford said.

In addition to the 7,165 vehicles under recall in the U.S. and its territories, Ford is recalling 799 vehicles in Canada and one in Mexico to address the same problem.

Ford noted it isn't aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue.

The Explorer, Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles were manufactured at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago. The Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles were manufactured at the company's Oakville facility in Ontario, Canada.
